The purpose of this website (www.geekygenealogist.com) is to share information on my genealogical research. Advertisements will not be used on this website. However, through the various plugins utilized on this website certain data may be collected. I use plugins (Akismet and JetPack) to keep this WordPress website secure. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Gravatar is also owned by Automattic.
Contact forms
If you send me an inquiry via the contact form, your details from the form, including the contact details you provided there, will be stored in order to process the request and in case of follow-up questions. Of course, I will not pass on this data.
